Yakisugi has been used for centuries in Japan as a way to seal cedar from rot and make it more fire resistant. This makes it an ideal finish in the landscape. Check out some progress shots of a 7th floor condo terrace we are building that incorporates several stationary and moveable Yakisugi screens. Stay tuned for more photos as the project nears completion.

Last week was our end of season party, and what a great season it has been. We would like to thank all of our clients, crews and suppliers for making it all possible. We love what we do, and what a way to celebrate it. It’s amazing how festive our office can become with the help of hundreds of mini lights and tons of candles. At times the space was so full of people there was a risk we might not be able to get to the bar! Unfortunately, we were so busy having fun we forgot to take many photographs. However, we think this one of the McMartin bros fishing for the last beer is worth sharing.

They provide a better cardiovascular workout and the environmental advantages are numerous. A 2001 Swedish study concluded, “Air pollution from cutting grass for an hour with a gasoline powered lawn mower is about the same as that from a 100-mile automobile ride.” Small gasoline engines produce disproportionately high amounts of carbon monoxide, VOC’s and nitrogen oxides, these are major smog producers and have very negative health impacts. Most importantly, these mowers are quiet so your neighbors can host that alfresco dinner party in peace, while you mow to your heart’s content.
