This 20’ x 20’ space emulates a small urban outdoor space that might be typical to older parts of downtown Toronto. The design picks up on some common post industrial materials such as weathered brick with crude mortar, heavy wooden timbers and rusted steel remnants. The contrast of modern materials and aged pieces creates a design with broad appeal. Key features of this design are a fold-away harvest table with integrated ice bucket, hanging steel fire basket, and a water feature made from a massive salvaged pipe flange. Subtle details like the reclaimed streetcar tracks imbedded into the pavers create a sense of surprise and intrigue.
