Yakisugi
January 13, 2012
We have long been fascinated by the Japanese technique of Yakisugi, also known as Shou-sugi-ban (translates roughly to: burnt cedar board). Yakisugi has been used for centuries in Japan as a way to seal cedar from rot and make it more fire resistant. This makes it an ideal finish in the landscape. Check out some progress shots of a 7th floor condo terrace we are building that incorporates several stationary and moveable Yakisugi screens. Stay tuned for more photos as the project nears completion.
